Is a concept which affords temporary relief for the family member or friend who assumes the daily responsibility of primary care giver. A Respite care program is often utilized to provide needed rest or necessary personal time, to allow a vacation, recreation or to cope with emergencies. Respite Care is offered for a minimum of one week, and is available throughout the year. Vernon Manor Children's Home provides services for persons with mental and physical Developmental Disabilities. The Pre-Admission Screening (PAS) agency must contact the local DD integrated Field Services Agency prior to authorization. Respite Short-Term (30-DAY): An individual may be admitted to a nursing facility from home (non-institutional setting) for short-term respite care not to exceed thirty (30) calendar days per quarter, with a break of at least thirty (30) days between stays of fifteen (15) or more consecutive days of respite care. Respite care is a temporary or periodic service provided to a functionally impaired individual for the purpose of relieving the regular caregiver.
Information required for admission:
At the time of admission, there must be an expressed intention of leaving the nursing facility by the expiration of the approved time period.
A Doctor's order required.
A Statement that the resident is free of communicable disease, including tuberculosis as verified by a Mantoux test/ chest x-ray prior to admission and an admission physical.
During the stay, Vernon Manor will maintain a record of treatments and medications given the resident and other data necessary to indicate the care provided to the resident.
