Brooke Buzbee, Director of Volunteers

Hello allow me to introduce myself, I'm Brooke Buzbee the Director of Volunteers at Vernon Manor Children's Home. I've been a resident of Wabash since 1978. I'm a 1997 graduate of Wabash High School/Heartland Career Center.

I've been employed at Vernon Manor since 1999. I chose Vernon Manor for two reasons one, I love working with children and two, I wanted to make a difference in the lives of these specialchildrenn. In February of '99, I took the C.N.A class offered at Vernon Manor where I received my certification as a Certified Nurses Aide. After working as an aide for three years, I decided to change departments and work as an Activity Aide within the Activity Department.

In May of 2004, I was promoted to Director of Volunteers, became a member of NIAVA the (Northeastern Indiana Association of Volunteer Administrators) and am currently serving on other committees within the facility. It's my job to recruit talented groups and individuals to perform, assist with fun-filled outings, and work hand-in-hand with our residents. This position has been a journey in itself. It's been fun, motivational, exciting, challenging and rewarding. I get to meet all sorts of new and exciting people everyday. We have many great volunteers who share their time and talents with us.

Just an F.Y.I. our Volunteer Services Department works with High School and College classess that need to participate in class projects or community outreach programs.

Just remember, volunteering is just a way to stop and take a minute and give back for all the blessings that we've received. I'm always taking applications for volunteers. Please don't hesitate to call me if you have any questions.
